Newry beach is a small stretch of shingle and rock set within the harbour formed by the large breakwater. The beach is backed by a promenade which runs from the Holyhead Maritime museum along to the sailing club. Behind this is a large grassy area. The beach is within a few minutes walk of the town centre and has been a popular spot for dog-walking, rock pooling and swimming amongst locals for many years. However, at the time of writing the beach's future is uncertain as a major waterfront residential development has been proposed.
