More Information...

Also known as the "Golden Mile", Morriscastle beach is certainly that, and more. In fact the beach here is over twice that length and often claimed to be the longest beach in Ireland. Whether or not this is the case it is certainly big enough to soak up beach-goers even on the busiest days of the summer. As well as being fantastically long Morriscastle Strand has lovely, fine golden sand. Bordered by dunes offering shelter from the breeze, this is an ideal beach for children to play. Morriscastle is a perfect example of what a Blue Flag beach should be - not just ticking the boxes, but a stunning, clean family-friendly beach. This stretch of Wexford coast is important from a natural point of view with a Special Area of Conservation (SPA) - the Kilmuckridge / Tinnaberna Sandhills - just to the South. You can often see seals swimming near the shore here too. Morriscastle has something of a reputation as an angler's beach. With bass topping the list other species often caught here include various dogfish and flatfish.
