This pleasant, sandy beach sits close to the resort town of Redcar, just east of Middlesbrough. The sand is an ideal destination for those wanting to relax in the sun, and is good for building sandcastles. The area is also used by watersport enthusiasts. This area of beach has gained a Seaside Award for cleanliness and good water quality. Lifeboat Station Beach forms part of the vast expanse of sandy coastline, stretching from South Gare in the north down to Granville in the south. An esplanade runs alongside the beach and is home to the Redcar Lifeboat Station, one of the RNLI's oldest lifeboat stations. If you're interested in the history of the RNLI in this area, a visit to the Zetland Lifeboat Museum, about a mile away is time well spent. As well as providing a home to the original Zetland Lifeboat, the museum houses an interesting collection of local photographs, artefacts and local memorabilia.
