Killiney is a long, stony beach located by the resort town of Killiney, one of the most exclusive suburbs of the Dublin area, whose residents include many Irish celebrities. The beach offers excellent views of the surrounding rocky coastline including Dalkey Island and Sorrento Terrace to the north, and Bray Head to the south. Due to its sheltered location the beach is popular for swimming. While the currents may not be strong, the water becomes deep rather quickly, and even a few meters from the shore swimmers can find themselves out of their depth. Killiney beach has a small car park that can be reached via a tunnel under the railway line from Strathmore Road. The nearest toilets are in the train station car park. Alongside the car park is a grassy area in between a sea wall and the railway line. It offers excellent views of the surrounding coastline and is a popular spot for a picnic. The beach is reached down a short flight of steps. Further parking is available to the north along Rico Road on the side of Dalkey Hill. A path leads down the steep hillside from the road to the beach. Killiney Railway Station located alongside the beach lies along the Dublin Area Rapid Transit Line. Facilities such as places to eat and a village shop can be found in the centre of Killiney, a few hundred meters from the beach up Killiney Hill Road.
