More Information...

Kilkee is a crescent-shaped, golden sandy beach, sitting at the end of a sheltered bay which is protected from the worst of the Atlantic swells by the Duggerna Reef. This beach, which has been popular with holiday makers since Victorian times, it is an excellent spot for bathing and for family days out, with lifeguards on duty at weekends in June and every day during July and August. To the west of the beach is the Kilkee Cliff Walk, which takes visitors past the Richard Harris memorial and offers some excellent views of the coastline. A number of car parks can be found in the town of Kilkee. Along Marine Parade at the western end, a small car park is separated from the beach by a grassy area with benches overlooking the beach. Another car park along O’Connell Street at the town centre, a little less than 100 meters behind the beach, offers public toilets and disabled facilities. The largest car park is at the northern end of the beach, which can be accessed down a short flight of stairs. As a popular tourist hotspot, Kilkee offers plenty of facilities such as pubs, restaurants and places to stay. To the north of the beach, Kilkee Waterworld is a great place to take children, particularly on a rainy day, whilst Kilkee Golf Club overlooks the bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The reefs around Kilkee are purported to be some of the best places for diving in the world.
