More Information...

Kilchattan Bay is a wide, sandy beach, with some pebbly areas, looking out onto the mouth of the Upper Firth of Forth from the Isle of Bute. Across to the mountainous Clyde Muirshiel National Park on the mainland, are some excellent views of the Island of Great Cumbrae. At low tide, the beach offers wide sand flats and the occasional rock pool to explore, whilst at high tide, it is mostly covered. The bay is sheltered from the westerly winds by a steep hill known as Suidhe Chattan. A jetty next to the village of Kilchattan Bay offers an excellent spot with panoramic views for a family picnic, as well as parking spaces and toilets. The beach can be accessed via a slipway. In the village, further facilities include a hotel and restaurant overlooking the bay, and a village shop.
