More Information...

Kettleness beach is located in a remote cove just west of Runswick Bay. Access is difficult and involves a scrabble down a very steep and uneven path whilst hanging onto a rope. Suffice to say this sand and rock beach is not a family favourite! Kettleness is however well known amongst fossil hunters and is one of the most productive locations on the Yorkshire coast. Dinosaur and ammonite are regularly found along the foreshore and in the cliff. There are a few reminders of the areas industrial heritage dotted around the cliffs here from when they were worked for alum shale, jet and iron.
