More Information...

Hive Beach near Burton Bradstock stretches on for over a mile. The attractive coarse sand beach is overlooked by farmland and cliffs. Being on Dorset's Jurassic Coast there are fossils to be found on Hive Beach. These can often be seen in embedded in the limestone boulders that dot the beach below the cliffs. It is said that in 1940 Hitler had chosen Hive beach as a landing point for his troops and the pill boxes stand as testament to this. This never happened but the beach was the scene of Allied troops practising climbing for the D-Day landings. On a clear day, visitors can enjoy great views along the coast from Hive. Up to Portland in the East and right the way round to the East Devon Coast.
