More Information...

Hemsby Beach offers visitors nearly two miles of sandy beach, backed by large grassy sand dunes. The dunes offer some shelter and make this a good spot for sunbathing, walking along the coast or playing in the sand. The beach is fairly wide and does not get too crowded. The good water quality and presence of a lifeguard during the summer season make Hemsby Beach suitable for swimming, surfing and canoeing. Looking out to sea from the beach, there are views over Scroby Sands windfarm. On the beach are the remains of anti-tank blocks and a concrete bunker which once formed part of the World War II coastal defences in the area. Beach Road leads from the beach into Hemsby village. Along this road can be found a range of amusement arcades, funfairs, cafes and other traditional seaside entertainments. Hemsby Beach is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A few miles north of the beach, Winterton Dunes Nature Reserve is a good place to spot grey seals, and a variety of interesting bird life.
