More Information...

Grouville is an attractive, wide, sandy beach on the east coast of Jersey. Queen Victoria was so impressed with the area when she visited that she decided to give it a Royal Epithet, hence the name The Royal Bay of Grouville. The beach is popular for swimmers as the shallow waters are warmed by the sun and the currents are not too strong. Children will enjoy playing in the fine golden sands and a wide variety of watersports are on offer at the beach. However, please note that there is no lifeguard in attendance. There are plenty of parking spaces along the beach as well as cafes, pubs, restaurants and kiosks, a children's playground and toilet facilitates. The beach backs on to the village of Gorey at its northern end and the Royal Jersey Golf Club to the south. It has a view of Gorey harbour and Mont Orgueil Castle. During the winter, Grouville beach is an important home for many migratory birds including turnstones and sanderlings. Dogs are allowed on the beach but must be kept on a lead at all times. The beach is cleaned at regular intervals throughout the year.
