Grandes Roques is a beautiful sandy beach in the north-west of the island of Guernsey. Flanked by pink-hued granite rocks, and backed by gentle grassy dunes it makes a delightful place to sunbathe or play in the clean white sand. And as if that wasn't enough, it is one of the best places on the island to watch the sun set over the Atlantic. The beach itself, which is popular with families, has some good rock pools and although there is no lifeguard on duty is a popular place to swim and snorkel. There is parking adjacent to most of the beach and a larger car park at the northern end alongside a kiosk selling food and drink. The town of Grandes Rocques sits opposite the beach, with plenty of pubs, cafes, and seafood restaurants along the Rue de la Saline. The beach is located along the 14 kilometre West Coast Pathway, a popular route for walkers and cyclists. A few hundred meters to the north of the beach, visitors can walk or cycle to Port Soif Nature Reserve. The nature trail here has some interesting plant species and has been designed to accommodate the needs of visitors with mobility issues. Dogs are allowed on the beach year round and there are bins provided.
