More Information...

The predominantly sandy beach at Drummore looks out from the southern end of the Rhins of Galloway Peninsula to the north east, back towards the Scottish mainland. Drummore is in fact the most southerly located town in Scotland. Thanks to the Gulf Stream, this area enjoys a milder than expected climate and some varieties of palm tree are able to grow here, a selection of which overlook the beach, giving the area an almost Mediterranean feel. The beach and town, with its small harbour, are particularly popular for boating enthusiasts. Walking is also a common pastime in the area, with a popular walk taking visitors to Drummore Castle. The beach is backed by a grassy area, offering excellent views of the surrounding coastline. Roadside parking is available in the town, and the beach can be reached via a slipway. The town also has a choice of places to eat out.
