Culdaff Bay lies on the Inishowen peninsula, at the northern tip of County Donegal. The beautiful sandy beach is composed of two distinct areas, the "small beach" and the "big beach", which are separated by rocky headlands of Black Rock. Bucker's Rock and Lady's Rock. The beach, which was awarded Blue Flag status in 2016, is a popular place for bathing and watersports, and can get quite busy at peak times. A popular New Year’s Day swim is organised here on 1st January. A beach information board gives details of lifeguard cover here. This area of the coast is a Special Area of Conservation and has some good walking routes. A short walk from the Culdaff beach, the pretty village of Culdaff, once the site of an 8th century monastery, has a hotel, two stone bridges and a village green.
