This stunning, sand and rock, beach, backed by grassy dunes, lies on the North Sea coast, between Berwick and the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve. The rural beach is within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, an area popular with walkers. Both the Northumberland Coast Path and the National Cycle Route pass nearby. In early summer, beautiful wild flowers can be seen along the paths behind the dunes. This beach is a great spot to come for long, windswept walks, to admire the big, open sky and beautiful seascapes. On clear days it is often possible to see Holy Island to the south and Bamburgh Castle to the north. As well as walkers, and families who come to enjoy the sand and rockpools exposed at low tide, this beach is also used by birdwatchers, surfers and body boarders.
