More Information...

Carrick is a small bay, with a sandy beach sitting at its north eastern end. Carrick Bay separated from the rest of the much larger Fleet Bay to the north by a rocky headland which is about 200 meters long. The small beach here is reached down the end of a track road and has a very much unspoilt feel to it. It offers excellent views of the surrounding wild and mountainous headlands and coastline. The sheltered bay, about 100 meters wide, can be used for bathing and water sports such as canoeing. However, most visitors come to the area for the fantastic walking opportunities. There are many coastal paths and the Galloway Forest National Park is nearby. Dogs are allowed on the beach. Some roadside parking is available near to the beach. Thanks to its remoteness, the area is rarely busy. However, facilities are few and far between, so it might be a good idea to bring a picnic.
