This location is classed as Seaside
Carreg Wen is a beautiful little beach in Tremadog Bay, overlooking the estuaries of the Afon Dwyryd and the Afon Glaslyn. The sandy beach is flanked by rocks and backed by hills and grasslands. From here there are stunning views across the estuary and over towards the snow-capped mountains of Snowdonia National Park in the distance. The beach makes a popular destination for sunbathers during the summer months. Swimming here is not recommended due to the presence of strong currents. At some times of year, weever fish, whose venomous spines have a painful sting, can be found in the waters here, so anyone venturing to the water's edge should wear protective footwear. The surrounding area is a good spot for birdwatching as well as being popular with walkers. Facilities and parking can be found in nearby Borth-y-Gest.
