More Information...

The seaside resort town of Bundoran sits in a stunning location, overlooking Donegal Bay, at the most southerly point of Donegal. This area of the coast is popular with experienced surfers and the mighty Atlantic swell experienced here attracts surfers from around the world at all times of year. Bundoran boasts two beaches. Main Beach is a Blue Flag, sandy beach just a short walk from the town's main street. It is flanked by rocks and backed by a promenade. From the beach there are fine views across the bay and out towards Benbulben mountain. A noticeboard on the beach details the times when lifeguards are in attendance here. A funfair and 'Waterworld' indoor water park can be found close by. Further along the coast, Tullan Strand offers a two-mile stretch of sand, backed by cliffs and rocks. Tullan Strand has some of Ireland's best surfing conditions, but strong currents near the shore make it unsuitable for swimming or even paddling. Novice surfers and boarders need to be aware of dangerous rocks and reefs along this part of the coastline. The lively resort town of Bundoran has been a tourist hotspot for over 200 years. There are a good range of facilities, including hotels, pubs, cafes and restaurants. A number of festivals and other entertainments are organised here throughout the season. There are some good clifftop coastal walks in the area, and this stretch of the coast also offers some good opportunities for birdwatching and sea angling.
