Ballyhalbert is a kilometer-long beach in the town of Bangor, to the North-East of Belfast The beach has a rock and pebble top section whilst at low tide, a wide expanse of sand is exposed. The beach is a good spot for both fishing and walking, whilst boating trips from the harbour are also popular. The area is part of a peninsula formed by Strangford Lough. It is rich in bird life. Behind the beach there is a large caravan park, whilst in the village, a shop and a pub can be found. A short stroll to the south-east along the coast will take visitors to the most easterly point in Ireland.
