More Information...

On the eastern side of the Furness peninsula, Aldingham Beach offers views over Morecambe Bay and beyond. The pebbled beach here has rocks of many different colours. At low tide a wide expanse of sand is revealed. From the car park a narrow path leads through the trees down to the beach. St Cuthbert 's Church, just above the beach is said to have been one of the resting places of the body of St Cuthbert, as his followers fled the Danes. Queen Victoria visited the church in 1848. Visitors should avoid walking on the mudflats in Morecambe Bay without a guide as the area is notorious for its quicksands and fast-incoming tides.
